SIRDS = Single-image Random-Dot Stereogram.

These images use techniques developed by: Erik Winfree, Kurt Fleischer, David Laidlaw, Preston Pfarner and other graphics lab members. Thanks to John Snyder for the ray tracer, and Al Barr for general advice.

A short explanation, with some code, will be published soon in Stereogram Programming Techniques.

Here are two frames from a stereo movie ("The Teapot that Wanted to be a Lobster") shown at a Siggraph 94 special installation.

Erik has several other SIRDS images that we made.

Color SIRDS:

No one seems to know how to do SIRDS with colored objects. It may not be possible with our current brains.
Here's a couple of our attempts that 'sort of work'. Well, see what you think.
